What is
Theosophy ?
Theosophy as presented by the Theosophical Society is a system of
thought and cosmology derived principally from Brahminical Hinduism and
Esoteric Buddhism. H P Blavatsky set out to present these ideas from Eastern
Traditions for Western Society. Theosophy also draws from many other religious
sources including Christianity and Judaism.
Theosophy endeavours to identify and synthesise those elements in all religions
which result from divine revelation and to enable adherents to establish a
personal communication with the Divine Principle.
H P Blavatsky’s remit was to
describe a scheme for the existence of the Universe and Man’s place within that
scheme.
Theosophy has no dogma and
ideas are presented as hypotheses for consideration and discussion.
